More than 100 customers enjoyed Aspire Housing’s third customer conference at the Chancellor’s Building at Keele University. The conference theme “Our Neighbourhoods – Our Lives,” encouraged feedback from customers, building closer links and supporting them to take control of their lives.

Aspire Group chief executive Sinead Butters welcomed delegates to the conference, which featured a question and answer session and market stalls. She also thanked Customer Chair Steve Meakin for his work as he leaves to move on to a director’s role within the Aspire Group.

Sinead said: “It’s fantastic to see so many people here. This is an exciting time for Aspire Housing and our journey starts and ends with customers. We aim to make North Staffordshire a place to invest in with residents having a happy, productive life. Together we are unstoppable.”

Inspirational speaker Richard McCann, the son of the Yorkshire Ripper’s first known murder victim brought his “I can” attitude to the conference with a story that moved everyone: “My benchmark is what can possibly be worse having been through that? Everyone should grasp the ray of sunshine underneath a black cloud, which will help them cope with challenges in their lives.”

Following lunch, customers took part in workshops, varying from issues like managing your money, anti-social behaviour, repairs and environmental sustainability, making community projects happen and how young people can shape our future.

The following customer awards were also launched:
