Winter Fuel - bogus callers

The North Staffs Pension Service has received calls from customers advising that they have been contacted by an individual saying they are calling from the Department for Works and Pensions to say they are entitled to an additional Winter Fuel Payment and asking for bank account details.

It would appear that some people have in fact given their bank account details to the caller.

This is not activity from Winter Fuels and therefore we are treating these as bogus calls.

The message to all customers is do not under any circumstances offer bank details to anyone calling in relation to Winter Fuel Payments or saying they are from the Department for Works and Pensions. If you have given out information please ask contact your bank immediately for further advice.
