The company has developed an exciting training programme for customers to gain the relevant skills and knowledge they need to get fully involved in community activities. Courses include: Community Consultation; Chairing Meetings; Understanding Housing Jargon and Secretarial Skills.
All courses are free of charge, include refreshments and lunch for full day courses and people may also be able to get help with childcare costs and travel arrangements.
Tim Edwards, Head of Operational Support at Aspire Housing, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to enhance their skills and knowledge in a supportive and fun environment.
He continued: “Customers are at the heart of everything that we do and it is imperative that we work together to create sustainable communities.”
Customer and member of The Children of Audley Residents’ Association, Lee Moss, has benefited from attending the Group Effectiveness courses on offer.
He said: “At the time, our committee was at a low point. The ‘Group Effectiveness’ course helped to pick us back up and gave us the motivation to continue”.
He added: “We were all buzzing when we came out of the course - really enthusiastic to do our annual Fun Day”.
This year’s training programme gives a wide range of courses including evening and Saturday events and upon completion of each course, people will receive a certificate of recognition.
Customers are invited to discuss their role as an involved customer with a member of Aspire Housing’s Resident Involvement Team to identify courses that would best suit them.
People can attend as many courses as they like, but places are limited and are available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
For more information and a full list of courses, contact a member of the Resident Involvement Team at Aspire Housing on 01782 635200 or alternatively, download the training brochure or make an online booking
