Some of our customers at Castletown Grange Sheltered Housing Scheme in Cross Heath will become ‘silver surfers’ on Friday May 15th as part of Adult Learners' Week activities.
The event is just one of the many activities to celebrate the national Adult Learners' Week campaign, run by the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education (NIACE), which aims to inspire and motivate people to go back to college, pursue courses in adult learning or just participate in fun and interesting courses in the community.
We have chosen the theme of Social Inclusion this year and are providing computers linked to the internet in the sheltered scheme lounge. The Silver Surfers session is being eagerly awaited by residents as they are keen to learn how to keep in touch with relatives who live out of the area by email – and to start shopping via the web!
This session is open to all residents at Castletown Grange and members of the wider local community and support will be on hand from our staff and pupils from Newcastle Community High School.
Other events being held during the week include a social inclusion exhibition, a session on building confidence and self esteem and a Domestic Violence performance by the New Vic Theatre.
For further information contact the Learning and Development Team on 01782 635200.
We look forward to seeing you during the week.
