The TSA is the new independent regulator for homes owned by housing associations and co-operatives. From the spring 2010 it will regulate homes and will ensure that customers receive excellent services from their landlords and where they don’t, to take action to improve things.
The TSA are holding a number of national and regional events called the ‘National Conversation’ until 8 September 2009 to give people a chance to have their say on the development of the new standards framework.
Newcastle-based Aspire Housing has invited the TSA to the event involving members of the North Staffordshire Housing Forum which is made up of several housing providers. Customers and staff will be looking at specific standards: Repairs and Maintenance and Anti-Social Behaviour & Security. Both affect all tenants and all types of landlord and are two of the most significant service areas and priorities for tenants.
Chair of the North Staffordshire Housing Forum and Staffordshire Housing’s Chief Executive, Diane Lea, is delighted that the event is taking place.
She said: “This is a real opportunity to influence important changes to the standard of services our customers can expect in the future. The people of North Staffordshire deserve quality and responsive services that meet their needs and aspirations, and the Forum are keen to work with and influence the TSA to improve national and local standards.”
Aspire Housing’s Chief Executive and Vice Chair of the North Staffordshire Housing Forum, Sinéad Butters said: “We have been closely following developments with the Tenant Services Authority and it’s fantastic that they are visiting North Staffordshire to listen to our customers and those of other housing associations and councils.
She continued: “Ultimately we all have the same ambition of providing excellent services for our customers.”
