Aspire Housing is working with the Furnituremine to help local people who are experiencing financial difficulties obtain furniture and white goods.
The Newcastle based company is responsible to remove and dispose of any unwanted furniture that may have been left in their properties when customers vacate them.
Working in partnership with the Furnituremine means that unwanted items that are in a good condition are collected from the properties and recycled back into the community.People that may not be in a position to buy new furniture could be entitled to access the stock at the Furnituremine’s base in Stoke.
Phi Woodward, Neighbourhood Maintenance Manager at Aspire Housing, said: “We are really excited to be working with the Furnituremine on this project and give something back to the community.
He added: “The service benefits people who sometimes find it difficult to purchase essential items of furniture or goods and it saves money on disposal.”
Mrs Joan Winfield, an Aspire Housing customer from Clayton said: “It is really great to see Aspire Housing helping its customers and the environment by working alongside the Furnituremine on this project
She continued:“I am sure many people will access this service and benefit hugely from it.”
