Exciting awards will recognise work in the community

Aspire Housing has recently launched its 2009 Customer Awards and is inviting customers to nominate their neighbours.

The company is promoting the six awards up for grabs, which include young person’s commitment to Aspire Housing, recognition of contribution in the face of adversity, outstanding achievement – individual and community group, contributing to diversity, respect and best newcomer to involvement.

Tim Edwards, Head of Operational Support at Aspire Housing, is delighted and said: “We are really excited about the awards which recognise the invaluable commitment made by our customers in shaping and developing our services over the last 12 months.

He continued: “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do and we are always looking for new recruits to join our customer groups.”

Steve Meakin MBE, customer and non-executive director at Aspire Housing, said: “We are really pleased and excited that the awards are taking place again in 2009.”

He continued: “Customers are working with Aspire Housing colleagues to organise a customer conference on 21 March 2009 – a first for the company that will engage involved customers and encourage more to get involved.”

The six categories are:

Young person’s commitment to Aspire - recognises a young person (aged 24 yrs or under) who has been working with Aspire and people from all walks of life and culture within their local community to help build bridges and improve their local area.

Recognition of contribution in the face of adversity – an individual whose dedication to involvement has been achieved in spite of difficult circumstances.

Outstanding achievement – individual and community group. Will recognise an individual or group that has made an outstanding contribution to making their neighbourhood a better place to live.

Contribution to diversity - will recognise people who have been working closely with others from all walks of life and culture to help build bridges and achieve a just society.

Respect award - will go to an individual who has challenged unacceptable behaviour in their community, to improve the quality of lives of all their neighbours.
