estate caretakers

We have six teams of estate caretakers covering the Newcastle area and maintaining all of Aspire Housing's 33 Neighbourhood areas.

They carry out a large number of duties including:

  • Litter picking – Responsive. Respond to complaints from 1 hour to 3 working days depending on location and amount. Patrol all streets at least twice a week to monitor and deal with problem areas.
  • Fly tipping – Responsive. To remove dangerous or hazardous materials within 24 hours. Respond to complaints from 1 hour to 3 working days depending on location and amount. Patrol all streets at least twice a week to monitor and deal with problem areas.
  • Bulk refuse collection – Offer service once a week to customers. This service is arranged through the customer services team - COMPLETE THE REQUEST FORM
  • Leaf removal – seasonal. Respond to where required. Patrol all streets at least twice a week to monitor and deal with problem areas.
  • Gritting – Seasonal. Only areas/footpaths where Aspire is responsible. And where there is a potential Health and safety implication.
  • Removing moss/slip hazards - Only areas/footpaths where Aspire is responsible. And where there is a potential Health and safety implication.
  • Maintenance of garage areas - Responsive. Respond to complaints from 1 hour to 3 working days depending on location and amount. Patrol all areas at least twice a week to monitor and deal with problem areas.
  • Graffiti removal – Remove graffiti which is offensive or racist within 24 hours. Remove all other reported graffiti within 3 working days.
  • Void properties/gardens – Check all voids daily. Maintain gardens/externals as required.
  • Inspection of communal/grassed areas – Responsive. Respond to complaints from 1 hour to 3 working days depending on location and amount. Incorporate into street patrols - at least twice a week to monitor and deal with problem areas.

Other tasks

  • Provide visible presence – deter anti-social behaviour. Report back any issues to the neighbourhood teams which are picked up during twice weekly patrols.
  • Report management issues to neighbourhood teams – be alert to issues e.g. abandoned cars, street lighting, crime
  • Settling in new tenants where appropriate – assist with locating services, local info.
  • Attend community events – as required
  • Attend all Estate Walkabouts.
