Role of the team
Aspire Housing’s team of Independent Living Officers are committed to promoting independence and supporting vulnerable customers living in both Aspire Housing and non Aspire Housing properties across the borough of Newcastle. The services are free, confidential and non-judgmental
| What we do The Independent Living Officers (ILO’s) offer support to customers who may be experiencing problems, either in their existing property or on moving into a new home. The ILO will discuss and agree with the customer their support needs and develop a person centred plan. The plan is monitored to ensure the correct support is being delivered and to see whether additional support is needed. The ILO will visit as regularly as the support plan requires. | |
| Here is a brief summary of the different services on offer; Generic service – ILO’s work with any Aspire Housing customer Over 55's service – ILO’s work with any customer, Aspire Housing or non Aspire Housing customer over the age of 55. Preparing People for Employment – The ILO works with any vulnerable young person aged between 16 and 25 to support them to access work, education or training. Referrals to the Independent Living team for Aspire Housing customers come via the Neighbourhood Officer for that particular property. If it’s a referral for a non Aspire customer, referrals can be made from a variety of external agencies.
