We run an assisted gardening scheme which helps tenants look after their gardens and hedges.
Who is eligible?
Aspire Housing tenants who are unable to look after their garden because of physical illness, disability or old age and have no able-bodied relatives living with them, or within 4 miles of their home, can apply.
You may be asked to provide proof to support your application such as attendance allowance book etc.
How do I apply?
Please contact us and we will send you a short form to complete and return. We will then get in touch to tell you whether or not you have been accepted.
If you application is refused, and you feel this decision to be unfair, you may pursue the matter through our complaints procedure.
How long can I stay on the scheme?
Once you have been accepted onto the scheme you can stay on it for as long as you remain eligible.
How long will I have to wait?
Because of the popularity of the scheme there is usually a waiting list of customers who are applying but we are not able to help yet.
However, it may be possible to arrange for one-off jobs to be completed by one of our Estate Caretakers whilst an applicant is waiting to join the scheme. Please contact us for details.
What work will be done?
There is often a large amount of clearing and tidying-up to be done at the beginning. Once this work has been done the grass will be cut, hedges trimmed and trees and shrubs pruned at the appropriate time during the spring and summer. Paths and patios will also be sprayed to deter weeds.
It will sometimes be necessary for large gardens with substantial flower beds and shrubberies to be grassed over for ease of maintenance.
