In 2004 we commissioned independent consultants and our own stock condition surveyors to carry out further inspections on our properties. These inspections will be completed within a 5 year period.
Key components of each property (e.g. bathroom, kitchen, windows) are given a life expectancy and this data is entered onto our systems. This information is used as a basis for planning our improvements programme.
Customer involvement including such events as neighbourhood walkabouts involving customers, resident panels and more recently Aspire have introduced consultation with newly formed community panels. All of these groups will be able to influence the planning of the programme.
Planning the programme
During the spring of 2006 we produced a draft 5 year improvement plan based on the stock condition survey. Previously, the programme was produced on an annual basis.
We presented this draft plan during summer 2006 by holding 32 consultation events borough wide. All customers were invited to attend to allow them the opportunity to influence years 2 – 5, as the first year of the programme was fixed.
The feedback collected raised some reasonable suggestions and amendments were included in the programme where applicable.
