right to repair

You can make sure that we carry out certain small, urgent repairs that may affect you health, safety or security quickly and easily. Repairs included in this scheme, which are called 'qualifying repairs', are listed below.

The Right to Repair will not apply if the cost of the work is more than £250.

Target times in working days:

1 Day

  • Total loss of electrical power
  • Unsafe power, lighting socket or electrical fitting
  • Total loss of water supply
  • Total or partial loss of gas supply
  • Blocked flue due to open fire or boiler
  • Total or partial loss of space or water heating (between 1st November and 30th April
  • Blocked or leaking foul drain, soil stack
  • Toilet not flushing (where there is no other working toilet in the house)
  • Leak from water or heating pipe, tank ot cistern
  • Insecure external windows, door or lock

3 days

  • Partial loss of electrical power
  • Partial loss of water supply
  • Total or partial loss of space or water heating (between 1st May and 31st October)
  • Blocked sink, bath or basin
  • Tap which cannot be turned
  • Loose or detached banister or hand rail
  • Rotten timber flooring or stair tread

7 days

  • Leaking roof
  • Door entryphone not working
  • Mechanical extractor fan in internal kitchen or bathroom not working
