Aspire Housing were appointed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, as part of the RENEW North Staffordshire housing market renewal programme, to lead on the development of a Masterplan for the Blurton and Newstead areas, in November 2005.
Axis Design Collective were appointed to undertake a Masterplanning exercise in the Blurton area, to assess the future sustainability of the area and produce a Masterplan to reinvigorate the housing market and contribute to urban renewal.
A large programme of consultation was undertaken with the community, discussing various projects in the proposed redevelopment of Blurton and Newstead.
Some of the projects included:
- Tree planting
- Local clean up
- Better pathways across the open spaces
- Off road parking forecourts
as well as re-developments to:
- Ingestre Square
- Barlaston Road
- Consett Road
- Wimborne Avenue
- Denham Square
