The new bandings give three different levels of medical priority now instead of the previous two levels. All current applicants with medical priority will be placed in the relevant band (either Band 4 or Band 5) according to how the current housing is affecting the problem.
Only applicants with a SERIOUS medical problem whose current accommodation is having a severe detrimental effect on their health will be considered for Band 1, including those currently in hospital but unable to return home as their own property is totally unsuitable for their needs.
