Sheltered housing is ideal for older people who wish to live independently, in comfort and security, with social and recreational opportunities on hand if desired. Our aim is to provide you with a professional support service that meets your needs.
Each property is self-contained with a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom. Some schemes have studio accommodation that is suitable for one person. These have a large living room with an area for a bed, separate kitchen and bathroom.
Each scheme has a communal lounge where a range of leisure and recreational activities take place.
Schemes have an Independent Living Officer who works between the hours of 9.00am – 5.00pm (Monday to Thurs) and 9.00am – 4.30pm (Friday). Earls Court and Hollins Grange Independent Living Officers work 9am-12.45pm Monday – Thursday and 9am – 12.30pm on Friday
The Independent Living Officer's responsibility is to:
- Maintain regular contact with you, the frequency and method of contact will be agreed with you.
- If you require additional support the Independent Living Officer will liaise with other agencies on your behalf (e.g. Social Care and Health, G.P. or voluntary agencies) to ensure you get the assistance you require.
- Support you in maintaining your tenancy (dealing with correspondence, benefit advice etc )
- Respond to you in the event of an emergency. This may require the Independent Living Officer to use a pass key to enter your home, when you are unable to give access yourself.
- Ensuring that all equipment such as alarm equipment, fire detection and fire fighting equipment are maintained in good working order.
- Encourage customers to participate and organise recreational, leisure and general community based activities.
All Aspire Housing sheltered housing schemes are equipped with an alarm call system. This system links your home to the Independent Living Officer. If the Independent Living Officer is away from the scheme or off duty your call will be directed to the Care Call monitoring centre at Aspire Housing. The alarm monitoring service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. More information on the CareCALL service can be found HERE
