A £2 million development of new affordable homes in Stafford has now completed on the site of former RAF accommodation!
The Portal Road development now boasts 16 brand-new high-quality homes, comprising a mixture of three-bedroom houses, two-bedroom houses and one-bed flats, all of which will be available for affordable rent.
This investment follows on from the 2016 refurbishment of 54 former Ministry of Defence houses on the same site, all of which are now occupied with residents.

When we acquired the Portal Road site in 2013, we had a vision of transforming the existing houses into decent affordable homes that people would be proud to live in. Our next phase of the project was to re-envision the land in the middle of the site, which was previously occupied by garages and unused open space.
By building new homes to sit alongside the refurbished former RAF homes, we aimed to build the foundations for a brand-new community, whilst maintaining the character and historic charm of the original houses. Portal Road has provided accommodation for RAF Stafford for many years and, with its new lease of life, the site will offer happy homes and a thriving community to Stafford residents for generations to come.”
The £2 million investment includes a £320,000 government grant from Homes England.
