A £3.5m redevelopment project is underway to build 30 new homes for older people in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Our Stanton Close development will provide a mix of aspirational and modern rented homes designed specifically for older people, with an investment of £3.5m.

The Stanton Close project involves the redevelopment of 11 bungalows in Knutton and the site that formerly housed the Forge Inn pub, creating 22 new flats and 8 new bungalows.

Dan Gray, Executive Director of Property at Aspire Housing, said: “With an ageing population, there is a growing need for accommodation for older people in our area.

“Stanton Close is an exciting development that will create 30 aspirational new homes in Newcastle that are high quality, affordable, and specifically designed to support older people in our community for generations to come.

“Over the last few years, Aspire Housing has made a number of substantial investments into regenerating our neighbourhoods and producing modern homes that make people proud of where they live. With more upcoming developments on the horizon, we aim to continue investing in our communities and supporting people within them.”

Hawk Developments has been contracted to build the new homes at Stanton Close.

Matt Edwards, Managing Director of Hawk Developments, said: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting Aspire’s vision to support the accommodation needs within the local community of Knutton. The Stanton Close development is designed extremely well with open gardens and communal areas for all residents to enjoy.

“The development will be built to the highest of standards by our work force and supply chain and all operations will be carried out safely and, as always, to the Government’s site operating procedures.”

Aspire Housing’s investment into Stanton Close has been supported by a £1.2m Government grant from Homes England, along with £219,575 of committed S106 funds from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.
