Living the dream

A young family looking for affordable accommodation has scooped a prize property in a stunning new development.

Mother-of-two, Sophie O’Neill, and her partner John Moss have bought a £150,000 three-bedroom home in Silverdale’s Heritage Park through the Aspire Housing shared ownership scheme.

The couple could not have afforded this dream property on their own and they are thrilled with the comfort and style in their new surroundings.

Sophie, aged 26, said: “We had been looking for a family home for around £75,000 but the houses on the normal housing market at that price were tiny, old and not in areas where we wanted to live.

“My partner works hard as a farmer, but he had bad credit rating and we thought we were going to struggle to get a nice home.

“But then we found out about shared ownership. We moved to Heritage Park six months ago and the house is great.

“The garden is large, the ceilings are high and there are lots of other kids around for Holly to play with.”

Sophie and John have bought 50 per cent of the home with a £75,000 mortgage and they rent the other 50 per cent which costs £200 a month.

Sophie, who works part time as a cleaner, said: “I used to live in Knutton and I know a lot of Aspire customers who are not aware they could buy a new home like this.

“The Aspire homes in Heritage Park are actually a bit better than some of those on the normal market, the gardens are bigger and the rooms are more generous.

“When I was looking for a new home I wanted everything, a big hallway, off-street parking, a nice area, an en-suite master bedroom, but we thought we couldn’t afford it.

“This house has it all and we’re really happy with it.”
