Cost of Living Payment

Households on means tested benefits, including Universal Credit, Pension Credit Tax Credits, JSA, ESA may be entitled to up to 3 Cost of Living Payments of £301, £300 and £299.

These payments are not taxable and will not affect the benefits or tax credits you get.

Disability Cost of Living Payment

You may be entitled to a Disability Cost of Living Payment of £150 if you’re getting disability benefits.

Most people will be paid the £150 Disability Cost of Living Payment automatically between 20 June 2023 and 4 July 2023.

Pensioner Cost of Living Payment

If you’re entitled to a Winter Fuel Payment for winter 2023 to 2024, you will get an extra £150 or £300 paid with your normal payment from November 2023.

The full amount of Winter Fuel Payment (including the Pensioner Cost of Living Payment) you will get for winter 2023 to 2024 depends on when you were born and your circumstances.

Alice Charity's People's Pantry

Open every weekday between 11am and 1pm, People’s Pantry in Newcastle, provides a three-day emergency supply of food, baby products and toiletries to local families who find themselves without the basic living essentials they desperately need. Families do not need to be referred in, just call them and they will offer support.

Travel Support

Cutting fuel duty

Fuel duty for petrol and diesel has been cut by 5 pence per litre across the whole of the UK until March 2023. It saves £100 for the average car driver, £200 for the average van driver and £1,500 for the average haulier.

You can get up to a third off train fares with a railcard in Great Britain, saving up to £142 a year on average.

50% off travel if you’re on Universal Credit

You may be eligible for a Jobcentre Plus Travel Discount Card if you’re on Universal Credit.
