This ASB Awareness Week, we want to help you feel more confident about recognising ASB, reporting it, and knowing what support is available when you need it.

We understand that ASB can have a real impact on how safe and comfortable you feel at home and in your neighbourhood. That’s why we’re here to listen, support you, and work together to keep our communities safe.

Every report matters to us, and you can expect to be treated with respect and understanding every step of the way.

Here’s what happens when you report ASB to us:

What is anti-social behaviour (ASB)?

ASB is when someone’s actions or activities make you feel harassed, frightened, or distressed. For something to be considered ASB, it usually needs to be frequent or persistent and have a significant impact on you or the wider community.

How we handle your ASB report

1. We review your report
Once you get in touch, our Neighbourhoods team will respond and start looking into your concerns. We’ll ask for details and any evidence you can provide, so we fully understand what’s happening. Sometimes, we might ask you to help us gather evidence or to report incidents to the police and share the reference number with us.

2. We investigate your report
To make sure we have the full picture, we’ll investigate thoroughly. This means speaking with you, anyone else involved, and, if needed, local partners such as the council or police. We’ll keep you updated on our progress and ask you to stay in touch with us until things are resolved.

3. We agree an action plan together
Once we’ve gathered all the facts, we’ll work with you to agree on a plan of action. We’ll explain what steps we can take and how you can help. Sometimes, mediation can help resolve issues between neighbours. In more serious cases, we’ll work with our partners to take formal action where needed—this could include legal steps such as injunctions, or as a last resort, seeking possession of a home. Please bear in mind that these processes can take time, as we must follow legal procedures and rely on the evidence available.

Working together

Our dedicated team works closely with the local council and police to tackle ASB in your area. We know that no single organisation can solve every issue, so we join forces with:

Each organisation has its own powers and responsibilities, and by working together under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, we aim to find the best outcome for everyone involved.
