Respect your neighbours during lockdown

We’d like to offer a friendly reminder to keep up positive relationships with your neighbours and community during lockdown.

We’re five weeks into UK lockdown, and we have noticed a small rise in the number of complaints we’re receiving about noisy neighbours and anti-social behaviour.

We realise this is a challenging time at the moment, but it’s important that we continue to respect our neighbours and consider those around us.

Aspire’s Head of Neighbourhoods, Alun Bragg, says: “The current situation is unique for us all. Families are isolated together all day every day, and that brings understandable stresses and strains. With that in mind, no surprise that people may be experiencing issues with their neighbours during these challenging times.

“The recent sunny weather means more people have been enjoying time in their gardens, and it’s understandable that you’d want to play music and have BBQs. We’d just like to politely encourage everybody to be considerate with anything that may cause disturbance and to respect your neighbours.”

Aspire Housing has recently increased the number of neighbourhood coordinators in the region to bring a personal presence back to its communities, which is one of many changes that has resulted from our widespread customer feedback surveys last year.

Whilst most frontline services have been switched to remote alternatives during the coronavirus outbreak, our Neighbourhoods team are excited to be heading back into the community as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Alun continues: “Two new locality managers and four new neighbourhood coordinators have started in the last month to strengthen our team and to make our services more accessible in our communities, and we can’t wait to get back out there to see our customers!

“Whilst we are working from home more right now, we do encourage all our customers to act responsibly and be considerate towards others. Before making a complaint, we’d also recommend that anybody experiencing issues should speak to their neighbours first, in a respectful way, and while adhering to social distancing.

“We take anti-social behaviour really seriously and will continue to investigate all reported cases during lockdown. At the same time, we’d ask everyone across our communities to remember that people are entitled to be outside as long as they’re following Government guidance, and during these challenging times for us all, let’s try to be more tolerant of each other’s activities. After all, we’re all in this together.”
