Aspire Housing and Tesco are looking for toy donations from generous shoppers to help children across Staffordshire enjoy a special Christmas this year.

The Newcastle-based housing provider has partnered with Tesco for the seventh year running in a bid to collect toys and games for 36 local children’s charities and hospitals.

The Toy Appeal will launch on Friday 16th November at 15 local branches of the supermarket, including Hanley, Meir Park, Trent Vale, Kidsgrove, Congleton, Longton, Crewe, Uttoxeter, and all the Tesco Express stores in North Staffordshire.

Sharon Battiste, Customer Engagement Advisor at Aspire Housing, said: “It’s our seventh year working alongside Tesco for the Toy Appeal, and the response we get from local people is absolutely fantastic. It gets bigger and bigger year on year.

“We’re always overwhelmed by the generosity of the shoppers, and we know the charities and, most importantly, the children appreciate it and have an amazing Christmas as a result.”

Donations are expected to smash last year’s total of 14,000 toys, which were handed over to the local charities at a Christmas party attended by a host of special guests, including football legends, celebrities, VIPs and dignitaries from across Staffordshire.

Special toy donation trolleys will be situated at the entrances of all participating stores from 16th November to 12th December, with shoppers encouraged to donate new toys in the run-up to Christmas.

The Toy Appeal will culminate in a celebration event where all collected toys will be handed over to local charities.
