At Aspire, we believe that supporting local businesses is essential for maintaining and strengthening our communities. In these challenging times, small businesses are facing significant struggles due to the rising costs of living, and the competition they face from large, global companies establishing themselves throughout Staffordshire and Cheshire.

It’s for these reasons that we are a keen and avid supporter of the ‘shop local’ initiative. But how does ‘shop local’ affect your community?

Job Creation.

Local businesses have a unique advantage in creating employment opportunities within their communities. Whilst larger businesses such as supermarkets may offer a lot of jobs, they often don't have that personal connection to their neighbourhood in the same way. Local businesses are far more likely to prioritise their employees' welfare and invest in their personal and professional development.

By supporting local shops, we contribute to the growth and sustainability of our communities. Local grocery stores, cafes, and restaurants are vital foundations for vibrant communities and serve as irreplaceable elements of a strong society. Aspire Housing shares a deep commitment to building local communities, and we are proud to be leaseholders for multiple shops and small businesses in locations such as Andrew Close, Clayton Road, Windermere Road, and The Parade, all situated in Newcastle-Under-Lyme. These areas are home to various businesses, including barbers, cafes, and charities, to name just a few. Throughout our support of the 'Shop Local' initiative, we have witnessed the positive impact these local businesses have within our communities, and we’re proud to have been able to contribute in some way to their growth.

Caring for Each Other.

Shopping locally encourages a sense of camaraderie and adopts a community where people genuinely care for one another. When we choose to spend our money at local businesses, we in turn, contribute to the livelihood of our neighbours, friends, and acquaintances alike.

Aspire Housing believes that local businesses can transform our communities for the better. By embracing the 'Shop Local' initiative and following its principles, we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbours. In addition, we can also contribute to a brighter, prosperous future.

So, the next time you're out and about, why not check out your local shops? Through supporting them, you not only help them thrive but also play an active role in building a stronger, connected community.

Together, let's make a positive impact and keep our neighbourhoods flourishing.
